The Asian Pacific Community Fund (APCF) is seeking an individual with a strong operations and administrative background to fill its Deputy Director position. We are looking for someone who is committed to the Asian Pacific Islander community and has a passion for making a difference through APCF and its 29 Affiliate Agencies in Greater Los Angeles.

The Asian Pacific Community Fund (APCF) is a nonprofit, community-based fund with a mission to promote philanthropy addressing the diverse needs of Asian Pacific Islanders in Southern California. Founded in 1990, APCF provides funding to 29 affiliate agencies serving 250,000 people annually, raising its grantmaking funds through charitable campaigns in public, private and nonprofit organizations throughout Los AngelesCounty. Since its founding, APCF has granted over $1.7 million to our affiliate agencies, all from funds donated through individuals.

Job Description:

The Deputy Director is responsible for strengthening the organization's internal processes and infrastructure that will allow APCF to fulfill its mission. The Deputy Director will provide oversight and implementation of all aspects of APCF's financial record-keeping, office operations, personnel policies, meeting logistics, etc. This position reports directly to the Executive Director. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following.

Financial Management:

  • Develop, implement and maintain processes to ensure proper acknowledgement, recognition, and stewardship of donors.
  • Manage institutional investments, bank accounts, and accounting procedures
  • Manage various expense budgets
  • Oversee and process accounts payable and receivables with accurate recording in QuickBooks
  • Oversee and process payroll
  • Provide financial reporting
  • Manage insurance policies for organization

Office Management and Support:

  • Maintain official records and documents, and ensure compliance with federal, state and local regulations
  • Ensure office systems are maintained in working order (computers, phones, fax machine, printers, etc.) and are cost efficient
  • Select and review vendors for quality work and cost efficiency (printers, tech support, etc.)
  • Oversee general office supplies and materials, including printed literature
  • Oversee logistics: meeting facilities, room set up and catering, audio visual, registration, RSVPs, etc.
  • Ensure a clean, safe and organized work environment
  • Provide office support for other staff during campaign season and as needed
    Personnel Policies and Practices
  • Review and evaluate staff benefits and manage the various plans, including health care, vacation time, etc.
  • Ensure proper workspace and equipment for employees and volunteers
  • Ensure personnel policies are adhered to

Fund Development:

  • Fundraise for the organization through grant writing and other resource development activities
    Executive Director Support
  • Oversee preparation of materials for board and other meetings as well as taking minutes
  • Assist with scheduling and confirming meetings
  • Assist with correspondence
  • Assist with record keeping/tracking as it relates to Affiliate Agencies

Language Skills:

  • Must be fluent in English and have excellent writing skills.
  • Ability to speak, read & write Chinese, Japanese, Korean or any other Asian language a plus but not necessary.

Qualifications:

  • Commitment to APCF mission
  • Minimum 2 years of qualifying experience demonstrating direct responsibility in above listed duties
  • Self starter and extremely organized with attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and complete projects on tight deadlines
  • Excellent analytical and financial skills
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks or ability to quickly become proficient
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal; ability to communicate successfully to wide range of diverse audiences
  • Ability to lead and work as part of a team.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience required
  • Valid California Driver's License, access to the use of a reliable automobile on a daily basis, and automobile insurance


Compensation: Dependent on experience. Exempt position with full benefits.
