Making the Future Today

The University of Southern California's African American academic support group, the Black Alumni Association, provides scholarships and facilitates a comprehensive network of African American alumni, faculty & staff, students and friends of the University in advancing the interests and needs of the USC African-American community, and community-at-large.

We invite those who want to make a meaningful contribution to the futures of bright, energetic and ambitious scholars who are the leaders of tomorrow to partner with us. Through a general membership pledge, a generous gift to our endowed scholarship programs, or to further the development of a special academic program, you can help continue the growth of this distinguished world-class university.

How You Can Help
Many BAA members have a general interest in providing scholarship funds. However, your gift can be directed to benefit a specific area that you specify. Such as:

  • BAA Scholarship Fund
  • Dr. Thomas Kilgore,Jr. Fund
  • Establish a named scholarship fund
  • Contribute towards a specific area of study

Who Benefits?
BAA scholarships are awarded on an annual basis. Students are invited to apply in December of each year, and are selected based on personal statement, financial need, leadership, community service and overall academic/professional promise. Final decisions are made after a personal interview. The BAA makes a unique difference, because our program is designed to keep the students enrolled so that they graduate on time.

Our main concern is to reduce the loan encumbrances of the students (a leading reason why students dropout).

It's a Match Made at USC
The BAA has a strategic advantage. You see, we have a special matching program here at the University that multiplies each dollar donated for scholarships 2 to 1. Therefore, a $500 scholarship disbursement yields a $1,500 tuition reduction.
