CotterCathleen Cotter
Cathleen Cotter graduated from California State University, Fullerton with a B.A. in Communications during the "Reality Bites" era and considered herself lucky to land a job with a non-profit agency. It was work, and it allowed her to flee Orange County for the bright lights and stunning diversity of Los Angeles. Soon after moving to the big city, Cathleen found a job working as an Editorial Assistant and Reporter for a local newspaper group for even less money. Oh, but the glory of having a byline far outweighed the trials and tribulations facing yet another bowl of instant ramen! Nine years ago, Cathleen returned to the fast-paced world of mass communications when she got a job as an Editor at PR Newswire.

While working full time, Cathleen completed her M.A. in Communication Management at USC's Annenberg School. After graduating, she moved around within the company a bit before being promoted into her current role of Western Region Media Relations Representative. Cathleen is a member of the Society of Professional Journalists, the Los Angeles Press Club, the National Lesbian and Gay Journalists Association and Media Bistro.

Cathleen is honored to be part of Lambda and looks forward to helping strengthen the organization and increasing its visibility to the students and alumni of USC, and within the GLBT community in general.

GratwickSteve Gratwick
A 1991 graduate of Lawrence University, Steve immediately left chilly Wisconsin for California. Settling in San Francisco and work in a law firm lead to a lot of volunteering and a connection with the HIV/AIDS community. He completed three California AIDS Rides in the 1990s and eventually worked for the public relations branch of Tanqueray, a principle sponsor of the event.

Changes in the AIDS Ride organization lead him to new work as a health counselor for a corporate wellness program based in the Bay Area. Steve’s work with the LGBT community also continued as a counselor for youth on sexual health and coming out issues. In 2003 he happily moved to Los Angeles to enroll in the masters of social work program at USC. While a student, he co-founded an LGBT student caucus and organized a number of events to bring awareness to community issues and create a more welcoming environment for students, faculty and staff in the school of social work. Steve now works as a social worker in a senior clinic by day, and is finishing a documentary about “Don’t ask, don’t tell” he began at USC. Steve looks forward to building a strong, healthy and diverse LGBT Trojan alumni community.
