USC Lambda Alumni plans summer of activities

LOS ANGELES, Calif.--Jan. 21, 2006--DRAFT. Lambda Alumni, the officially-recognized alumni organization for gay & lesbian alumni of the Unviersity of Southern California and their allies, is pleased to announce a slate of activities for the upcoming summer months.

On March 1, Lambda will celebrate the launch of its new website with a USC-themed blast at iCandy at Santa Monica and Fairfax in West Hollywood. USC-alum and owner, Tyler Robuck, will be on hand to celebrate with USC alumni old and new.

"This really is a new day for Lambda, and we can't wait to reconnect with old friends and make connections with new ones," notes Courtney Miller, President.

"This culminates a tremendous volunteer effort of almost two years," adds President-Elect David Hildebrand. "We’re especially excited to introduce our new, dynamic Board to the public, and give alumni the opportunity to meet this group of hardworking, amazing individuals who are giving so much of their time to bring Lambda back to life."

On tap is the celebration of Lambda’s new web site, uscLambda.org. "The new website represents a tremendous effort by the Board. The goal was to better present the scope of what Lambda does, and provide a great framework for adding content and features going forward," explains Ms. Miller.

New functionality has also been added to resolve longstanding difficulties in capturing member information, and responding to members in a timely manner. The site features information about all of Lambda’s programs, as well as the ability to Join Lambda on-line without having to resort to a paper application. "This process will dramatically improve our ability to capture membership data, and do a better job keeping up with our members," notes Casey Heim, Lambda's Membership and Volunteer Coordinator.

The party begins at 7pm with drink specials, speakers and materials on the new Lambda.

Additional plans for the summer are being developed and will be announced shortly.
