Michele G. Turner, Executive Director of the Black Alumni Association, announces that the papers of Rev. Dr. Kilgore have been donated to USC by his daughter Rev. Jini Kilgore Cockroft, and preserved by the USC Libraries Special Collections.
The collection includes Kilgore’s personal correspondence, sermons and the planning of the 1963 March on Washington with Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. It is now available online for scholarly access and discovery.
“This is really special because of the importance of Dr. Kilgore to the African-American community and to the neighborhood,” said university archivist Claude Zachary. “We would like to use this as a collection to build on as we do more with our neighborhood and nearby institutions.”
You can access the collection here.
