The University of Southern California (“USC” or the “University”) is committed to safeguarding the privacy of data provided by our alumni, parents, donors and other constituents. Tis Privacy Notice describes the University’s collection, use, and disclosure of information about you that are provided to the USC Alumni Association and/or the USC Division of University Advancement (“Alumni-Advancement”). When you submit information to Alumni-Advancement, you consent to the University’s collection and use of that information as described in this Privacy Notice.
University Use of Information
USC Alumni-Advancement collects and maintains information about you based on its interest in continuing its relationship with you, including by promoting USC’s interests and achievements to you and inviting you to support the University and participate in USC programs and events. Some of this information is collected from you directly and some information is provided by third parties that, for example, verify addresses or provide other information. Alumni-Advancement uses information about you to tailor our messages and invitations to your interests, to analyze and improve our alumni and relationship eforts, and to conduct general demographic and statistical research and prospect research. We also use and share your information internally with other University offices and units as necessary to provide services to you.
Online Payments
Reputable third-party merchant processors, fnancial institutions and software vendors handle our credit card transactions pursuant to written agreements with the University that require them to maintain the confdentiality of these records.
Third Parties
We disclose your information to third parties as follows:
- Consent. If you do not wish to have your email address/contact information used by USCAA to promote our own or third parties’ products or services, you can opt-out through your profile page in FightOnline or by emailing us at alumni@usc.edu. Subject to the terms of the GDPR, this opt out does not apply to information provided to USCAA as a result of a service or product purchase, product service experience or other transactions.
- Service Providers. We use third parties to support our operations and legitimate educational interests and may share your information with such third parties.
- Required by Law. We will share your information with third parties to the extent we are required to do so by law, court order, or subpoena.
- De-Identified and Aggregate Information. We use and disclose information about you in de-identifed or aggregate form without limitation.
Security
You must have a secure browser—one that supports secure transmission of data across the Internet—to send payment to/from the University. For more information about your browser’s security features, use your browser’s help feature.
We seek to implement appropriate technical and organizational security measures to protect your information when you transmit it to us and when we store it on our information technology systems. Unfortunately, no data transmission or storage can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. If you have an account with USC, your account password is protected so that only you can access it and view the information that you provide to us through the online site. We strongly advise you not to share your password with anyone.

Retention and Destruction of Your Information
Your Information will be retained by USC in accordance with the applicable retention periods in the University’s Record Management Policy, available at https://policy.usc.edu/record-management/ . The manner of destruction shall be appropriate to preserve and ensure the confidentiality of your Information given the level of sensitivity, value and criticality to the University.
If you are located in the European Union, you may also have additional rights with respect to your Information, such as: (i) data access and portability; (ii) data correction (including the ability to update your personal data); (iii) data deletion (including the right to have USC delete your personal information, except information we are required to retain, by contacting us); and (iv) withdrawal of consent or objection to processing (including, in limited circumstances, the right to ask USC to stop processing your personal data, with some exceptions, by contacting us). You may also be able to fle a complaint with the appropriate supervisory authority in the European Union.

We may share information that does not personally identify you without restriction.
Cookies and Website Analytics
We use cookies and similar technology to collect aggregate (non-personal) information about website usage by all of our visitors and to help us remember you and your preferences when you revisit the websites. These cookies may stay on your browser into the future until they expire or you delete them. We also use technology to remember you the next time you log in. Some of these cookies are erased when you close your browser window and some persist for a period of time. You can decline cookies by adjusting your browser settings but some features of the websites may not function.
We may allow selected third parties to place cookies through the website to provide us with better insights into the use of the website or user demographics or to provide relevant advertising to you. Many USC.edu websites use Google Analytics (or other similar web analytics tools) to collect information about visitor traffic and behavior. Tis allows us to identify usage trends and to improve the performance and content of our websites.
We do not use this tool to collect or store your personal information, and it cannot be used to identify who you are.
You can use the Google Analytics Opt-Out Browser Add-on to disable tracking by Google Analytics.
We currently do not use technology that responds to do-not-track signals from your browser.
Access and Choice
USC students can manage privacy settings for their directory information by following the instructions in https://arr.usc.edu/forms/RestrictDirectoryInformation.pdf. Faculty and staff can manage their directory information in Workday.
You can choose not to receive certain emails from us by “unsubscribing” using the instructions in any email you receive from us. This will not stop us from sending emails about your account or education with us.
Updates to Privacy Notice
USC reserves the right to modify this privacy notice at any time. We encourage visitors to frequently check this page for any changes to this Privacy Notice. If we make changes, we will post an updated efective date below. Your continued use of this site after any change in this Privacy Policy will constitute your acceptance of such change.
