What motivated you to take on this leadership role?
I was motivated to take a leadership role with the Seattle Regional Alumni for two main reasons. First — much like my fellow co-chair, Sammi Phan — I realized our Trojan alumni community in the PNW was missing a true sense of connection. We all share this common bond, and it can open the door to so many meaningful relationships. I want to help create a welcoming hub where alumni can find one another, whether for professional mentoring or simply to connect around shared personal interests.
The second reason is that I personally underutilized the Trojan network after graduating, and I want to help others avoid making that same mistake. I hope to support current students and recent graduates in discovering the value of a strong alumni network — whatever that looks like for them.
Overall, I want to show our regional alumni just how extraordinary the broader Trojan network is, and how many ways it can enrich our personal and professional lives.
What are you most looking forward to as co-chair?
I look forward to working with Sammi and the other board members to create the strong foundations of a regional alumni group that can stand the test of time. Much of that involves listening to what regional alumni are looking for as far as activities and networking, as well as trying new things to see what clicks for our community. I envision a network that empowers all alumni to feel confident and supported in proposing and leading activities — creating a true, region‑wide community that extends well beyond Seattle and the Eastside. We have so many Trojans across the PNW, and I want every one of them to feel included and connected to what we build together.
What’s something about you that others might not know?
Personal facts about me: Dedicated cat mom to my 17-year-old cat, Ms. Duff, whom I have had the privilege of caring for since she was about 3 days old. I live in downtown Seattle right by Pike Place Market. I am a nerd for all things health-related (meditation, pilates and spirulina shots, anyone?) and love to travel. I love being outside and am seeking buddies to hike and ride bikes with (for fun — not breaking any speed or endurance records over here). I’m also a budding indoor houseplant enthusiast.
