- The Battleship Iowa neither owns nor controls the main parking lot in front of the ship. The museum can accommodate a limited number of cars between the ship's gangways for free. We strongly encourage carpooling as much as possible. If you do park in the main lot, the first hour is free and $2/hour after that. Parking is payable by credit card upon exiting. Free parking is also available on the street. Enter on foot by the 3rd Street gate.

- There are 2–3 different work scopes available at the site to ensure the physical labor matches everyone’s abilities, ranging from light beautification to more active horticultural maintenance.

- Children are allowed to participate, but they must be supervised, since the warehouse utilizes forklifts and heavy moving equipment.
- Attire:
- Closed-toe shoes (preferably tennis shoes) are required; sandals are not permitted. Dress accordingly for working in a warehouse (comfortable clothes).
- Parking:
- Available at the back of the warehouse.
- Physical Ability/Activity:
- Volunteers will lift anywhere from 1 to 32 pounds. Most of the event will require people to do repetitive tasks. Accommodating tasks are available for those with unique abilities or those with physical limitations.

- Volunteers will help with invasive plant control and revegetation efforts. Volunteer Instructions
- Age:
- We will be working with sharp tools, so this project is best suited for volunteers at least 12 years of age.
- Attire:
- Please be sure to have adequate sun protection on you. We recommend a hat. Hiking or work boots are best (no open-toed shoes). Wear clothes that can get wet and/or dirty. Some of the invasive removal will be in and around a small creek that is 1' deep and 3' wide. If you have some waders and never get to use them, this is your chance! We have other areas if wet is not your thing.
- Parking:
- Free street parking is available on Exposition Blvd North, west of Westwood, and Northvale Road, east of Overland. Please note that the posted parking time limit on Exposition is 4 hours (no limit on Northvale), so time your visit accordingly and observe all posted restrictions.
- Public Transportation:
- Options include Metro’s E Line at the Westwood/Rancho Park Station, the Santa Monica Big Blue Buses #8 and #12 and the Culver City Bus #3.
- Supplies:
- Bring a water bottle or hydration bladder. There is no potable water at the greenway. Sturdy gloves that can get wet/dirty. Some garden implements will be provided, but if you have any of the following and can bring them, that would be welcome: weeding fork, hand shovel, hatchet, or pruning shears.
- Weather:
- In case of heavy rain, this event will be cancelled.
- Other:
- No pets. There is no power and no secure storage at the Greenway. Please plan accordingly.
